Stanlio abita in affitto nella casa di Ollio che ha una moglie che li costringe a lavare i piatti. Finalmente liberi, entrano in un locale dove si stanno effettuando delle aste e lì trovano una signora che li convince ad aggiudicarsi un vecchio orologio a pendolo da parte sua, mentre lei va a casa a prendere i soldi. Purtroppo per loro l' orologio che si sono aggiudicati finirà schiacciato sotto un camion che passa velocemente sulla strada, facendo perdere tutti i risparmi del povero Ollio che servivano per pagare l' affitto della casa...
