Benvenuti A Marwen è un film drammatico del 2018 diretto da Robert Zemeckis, con Steve Carell e Eiza González. Il film racconta la vera storia di Mark Hogancamp (Steve Carell), illustratore specializzato che vive durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Un giorno, Mark viene picchiato selvaggiamente e senza motivo da cinque balordi che lo riducono in fin di vita. Per lui non ci sono molte speranze di farcela, tanto più che i calci ricevuti alla testa gli hanno provocato un'amnesia totale che ha cancellato tutti i suoi ricordi. Mark trova la forza di andare avanti grazie a un insolito progetto: la costruzione di un'istallazione, una fantastica città belga in miniatura di nome Marwen.
In questo luogo straordinario, lui è Hogie, capitano e pilota di aerei da combattimento della seconda guerra mondiale, protetto da cinque bambole paladine della giustizia che lo difendono dai nemici nazisti, riproduzioni dei suoi reali aggressori. Le bambole, sono anch'esse ispirate a delle amiche reali di Mark: Anna (Gwendoline Christie), Julie (Janelle Monáe), Caralala (Eiza González), Roberta (Merritt Wever) e Nicol (Leslie Mann). Mentre affronta la riabilitazione nel mondo reale, sostenuto dalla forza e amicizia delle cinque donne in carne e ossa, si rifugia in un mondo fatto di fantasia e realtà, dove può guarire e trovare il coraggio di continuare a vivere a testa alta.
