Yesterday, il film diretto da Danny Boyle, è incentrato sulla storia di Jack Malik (Himesh Patel), un giovane musicista di una piccola cittadina costiera che lotta per ottenere un pò di notorietà. L'unico sostegno di Jack è quello della sua migliore amica dai tempi dell’infanzia, Ellie (Lily James).
Dopo un assurdo incidente con un autobus causato da un misterioso blackout globale, Jack una mattina si sveglia e scopre di essere l'unica persona al mondo a ricordare le canzoni dei Beatles.
Con l’aiuto di Debra (Kate McKinnon), la sua agente americana dal cuore d’acciaio, Jack porta sul palco, spacciandole per sue, le canzoni della band più grande della storia in un mondo che non ha mai sentito i Beatles, diventando così in poco tempo una star mondiale.
