After his daughter goes missing, a widower begins uncovering the dark secrets of the people closest to him.
Tom (Michael C. Hall) è un chirurgo pediatrico che, rimasto vedovo, prova a riprendere una vita normale, tra lavoro e barbecue domenicali, nella ridente comunità di villette a schiera in cui vive insieme alle due figlie adolescenti. Anche se poco alla volta, tutto sembra andare per il meglio fino alla sera in cui la maggiore delle due, Jenny (Hannah Jane Arterton), esce per andare a una festa e non torna più. Insieme a lei scompare anche un ragazzo, Chris (Freddie Thorp), dando il via a un effetto domino di rivelazioni inaspettate sulla comunità, solo all’apparenza irreprensibile.
